M101, Pinwheel Galaxy
M101 is a large spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It is one of the largest and most photogenic spiral galaxies in the Messier catalogue. It has well-defined spiral arms containing bright star-forming regions. Its core is relatively small and less luminous than those of other spiral galaxies.
